Default Performance Repair

Hey,
I have a '97 Ram 1500 5.2 magnum 5 speed and my intake gaskets are leaking. I figure as long as I'm taking the manifold off I'd like to put a new manifold on that can deliver more power. Does anybody know of a manifold that will bring a few ponies and still be fuel injected? Also, I'm planning on getting an intake, and would a TB spacer with a performance manifold be even better?

A TB spacer is worthless on these trucks since they are port injected. They do nothing at all. If you want to do something there get a Fastman, S&B, or APS throttle body. Fastman seems to be the best choices as the others are either more expensive or no longer made.

As for the intake manifold there is the M1 which seems to be the best option if you change it. Doesn't it only make power in the upper rpm range? As in like over 6k rpms or something? I've read that several times that unless you have a computer flash to let you rev that high you will never see any gain from it. I've also read that you lose low end from it so to most this isn't a worthwhile upgrade. I planned on doing it until I got to reading about it. I don't want to spend that kind of money to lose power where I use it most and gain a tad bit where I never would see it.

Another option is the modded stock intake. Do a search for modded kegger or something to that effect. That seems to be the best option for most people.

For the intake gaskets a APS or Hughes kit is recommended. That way you hopefully wont have that problem again and you can then mod the kegger yourself for added power.

welcome to DF...

also IIRC, hughes is now offering another intake manifold option using an airgap manifold. visit their website and have a look.

Yeah but didn't dyno charts prove it did no better than the M1 anywhere in the power range and was more money? I remember reading about that but not sure where the link to the threads are.
