Shott,

I think turkeyhunter1962 runs a Dr. Evil Transmission. The "pure evil" one I believe. A bit cheaper than APS, I think they reuse the housing whereas APS starts brand spanking new. Here's the Linky: http://www.dreviltransmissions.com/home.html
Who built up the last on by the way?

IMO APS is the only way to go. I've posted several posts on it. They are expensive but imo worth it. The others seem to add up anyway and by the time you add everything on while maybe not as much seem to start getting closer than you think in price. The Dr. Evil I've heard okay things about but I think I read they use a piece APS says not to use. I don't know exactly why although their site says why not to so you might want to talk to both of them about it and see what they say. I think APS is the way to go though. I love mine.

To me the Fastman tranny is not a good option. I've never heard anything from anyone that actually owns one people just assume since he seems to know what he is doing with these trucks that his are good but when it comes down to it there seem to be better options they usually go with. His seems really cheap when you look at the price on the website but when you add in the shipping, torque convertor, and all the needed stuff his price gets way on up there. So then you have something thats not that far from a APS price wise and according to a guy on here I've talked with that talked with both him and APS the Fastman doesn't have a all the parts blueprinted and stuff like that APS. I think thats what was different. Who knows it has the other stuff or not. Then to top it off you get a 30 day warranty. He says they either work or dont work and he hasn't seen one fail yet. These transmissions don't seem to either work or not work to me. What happens if it blows up in 2 months? You have to buy another one? If you had the APS with the 2 year warranty things might have been better. To me if you can't offer more than a 30 day warranty you don't believe in your product. If I was building something quality like that and if I thought it actually was quality I'd be able to offer more than 30 days for a warranty. Thats the biggest reason I'd stay away from them.

I had it shipped to the shop I used to work at which installed it also. You could ship it to the house but it was extra. I think it was an extra $49 but I'm not sure. I guess the shipping company charges more to ship to a house so he just passes the cost along.

I have a Dr. Evil in mine and do love it I did not get the pure evil just the street evil but it shifts great and pulls my trailer with no problem. I think APS or Dr. Evil would be great. I went with Evil because they answered all the questions I had and they care enough to ship their trannys in a abs crate made specifically for the tranny so alot less chance of damage.

Motorbreath
I'm new here. Just bought my sons 98 Ram 2500 4x4. The transmission is newbut it's the 3rd one at 104,000 miles. You mentioned swapping in a manual. I'm looking into this. Do you have any info or know of where I can get some? Anyone else with auto to manual conversion experience? Might squeeze outa few more MPG's as well.
Thanks
Mark
