Thanks for the video engineblock. I've been doing some research and knowing me, I'm aching for something a little different. I think I want to try Magnaflow out. I think with the longtube headers and gutted cat, it should sound very performance like yet not drone as much. This muffler is stainless steel and is a little pricey, but I think a dodge can make anything sound fantastic, it's something I'm considering. This is there 2nd loudest muffler. I just want to eliminate drone on the highway, then I'm happy. What do you guys think? This is just an idea though, you guys are welcome to continue throwing out suggesstions or offering your current set-ups.

I've done some more thinking about this, and I think I am getting closer to a final thought. I've flirted with the idea of changing my "dual sweep exhaust" to go out underneath the bumper. My exhaust tips are 4x24", and I bought them when I had 35" tires. Now with the 285s, I think the tips look a little silly with the tires being smaller now. I think maybe it might clean the look up a little bit if I had an exhaust shop have the exhaust go out underneath the bumper and hide the oversized tips. I also am pretty sure I am going to change to a stainless steel magnaflow muffler. I love change, so I think it's worth a shot. The 44 is really great, but it can be over bearing at times with passengers, almost a little embarrassing, especially when you have a new date and she doesn't give a rats about a vehicle. I've called magnaflow and they think there 2nd and 3rd loudest muffler would suffice best for me. I'm just not sure which one to go with. I don't want it to sound sissy because I do love loud, but I pretty much want it to be almost unoticable on the highway unless I'm into it. I think with the gutted cat and longtube headers my truck will make any muffler still sound very mean, but toning it down is the goal I think. What do you guys think??

I'd leave it alone, especially if you like it. If someone doesn't like it then take their goddamn car. It probably gets better gas mileage than your truck anyway. If they don't have a car they can live with it. Roll the windows up, use the A/C if it's hot out.

But that's just my opinion. Although I figured you made your truck that way because you wanted it that way...

That's a good perspective too. I did make it loud because I like it loud, but sometimes I do myself, get a little queezy from it, especially in the morning when I'm really tired driving down to work. But then when I see some poptart chevy guy blow by me, it makes me so happy that I have it lol. I defiantly think I want to move the exhaust out the back, but I'm going to do some thinking on the muffler, I need to decide if I'm going to keep it, or tone it down a little bit.

Thanks for the input motor. I'm kind of excited to give it a shot. Where magnaflow isn't usually as loud as flowmaster, they supposedly offer a straight through design. Only thing that sucks is the muffler cost a little over $100, but they are stainless steel. I think I'll go with their 5x8, and hopefully it will still be loud but settle down on the highway, that's all I really am looking for, quite on road trips.

if you route your exhaust straight out under the bumper, it will be quieter in the cab, but you can still hear your pipes when you want. Mine exits underneath the rear bumper, its loud when I want it to be, but when I go down the road I only hear a mild rumble.

Just a cat and straight pipes BTW

i also have the super 44 and it exits out the back with 3.5" tips and it is quiet in the cab unless your on the throttle, the tips and exit location can change the sound, just something to think about. I cant find my video i had but i did post it on here a long while ago.

If you go offroad at all I wouldn't suggest running the pipes straight out behind the bumper. You'll smash those nice shiny tips all to bits in no time.

Well with the smooth all-terrain tires, this truck isn't anything crazy offroad anymore lol. It does good around the jobsites, but it lost any of its recreational offroading capabilities. She's officially a sporty looking towing/work truck now. I went ahead and made the appointment with the exhaust shop for next Thursday to have the exhaust go underneath the bumper. I think it will clean the look up a little bit. The tips just look a little silly now since the tires aren't as big as they used to. I'm also going to see if having it aimed out the back might lessen the drone a little bit, if not, then I'll look into swapping mufflers, or adding a resonator of some sort. I'll take some before and after pictures for you guys when I get it done, I hope I don't regret it.
