Muffler
Since I've been basically putting everything back to stock (lift, tires, headlights, tail lights), I think I would like to change my muffler. I love the Super 44, it sounds unique, it's mean, and sounds like no other...BUT, it's getting a bit much. Sure, I love the muffler and being the baddest sounding truck on the block, but my passengers aren't enjoying the ride, which means I'm not enjoying the ride. It just gets to be too much. When I'm with a girl trying to have a nice conversation or just relax, the muffler never lets up, EVER. City driving or highway, it's always consuming the cab. I love exhaust, but I think it's something for me that should only be prevelant in 1st and 2nd gear or at idle, and then die off so you can drive. I am pretty sure I will go with the 50 series muffler. Sadly, I think it will still be very loud though seeing my truck doesn't have a cat and has longtube headers. But I think it will make a better median of sound, will still be loud, but hopefully will die off going down the highway. After I get the transmission squared away, I will have made my decision.
For once, i'm i agreement with you. I've been contimplating taking of my FM Super 40 and going with something quieter. Problem is, I don't want to sacrifice flow for quietness. I'm thinking maybe an FM 70 series, or even some other brand. I just don't want to put an OEM muffler back on.
On the reverse side though, now that I don't drive my truck as much, when I do get in and turn the key, it just feels right with that rumble. I will miss that I think.

Have you thought about an electric cutout? That way you can have it super loud when it's just you in the truck but can't close it when others are in there to get it down to a fairly decent volume of whatever muffler you chose. Are you going to be selling your Super44 or what are you planning to do with that?
hey man dont change the exhaust, I have the new version of the super 44 (the smaller mufflers) and the man in the muffler shop put the curb from a 2008 Dodge Ram which has a resonator. When i have all hte windows down its extremely loud but when you put all the windows up you could barely hear it due to the resonator and my exhaust tips are all the way top the back, I love it
Oh Yea i have no cats

I would suggest either going with a resonator or using a glasspack as a resonator. My setup goes directly from the 3" y-pipe to a 24" LONG, 3" diameter galsspack, then directly into a si/so 3" Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler, the dumped immediately after the muffler. The entire exhaust cannot be seen unless you are under the truck, except for the shine of the long tube headers through the wheel wells.
The exhaust dumps just behind the extended portion of the cab, right in front of the rear axle. The sound is awesome while driving, but not at all over bearing like the drone you get from FM mufflers, or this CBE as well. Before I installed the glasspack, it was too loud to enjoy for any length of time while driving. And as for having a conversation with the engine running, FORGET IT!! After installing the glasspack, I have no problems at all with having a conversation with someone, or just listening to the radio. The truck sounds mean and aggressive, but not at the expense of comfort. I haven't heard a better setup on any truck yet for what I personally wanted my truck to sound like. As for exhaust flow, there is absolutely no problem there! If I had a better recorder, I would post some videos of it. I hope to get one soon, but not today.
