are you trying to be "fast" or are you trying to be faster?

Responce to "fast"- why the hell are you racing that truck.

Responce to faster- gears, heads, cam. GO

Faster. I doubt this truck will ever be fast. I just would like it to be faster than it is now. Is 10's in the 8th of a mile too much to ask for a truck like this? I would be okay with mid 10's and really happy with low 10's. I have other stuff for when I have the need to go fast.

Just trying to be faster. I know this thing will never be fast but is a mid to low 10 second pass at the 8th of a mile too much to ask? I have other things to go fast on and in but I would like this truck to atleast be a little faster than it is.

quit ****ing around and supercharge it

Otherwise I'd say **** on going fast. throw a 3" body lift on there and rock some 35s. Cheaper than going fast, and it'll go better offroad.

Procharger.com has a video up of Stacey David putting one of their kits on a 99' 1500 318 4x4. They report a 40-60% hp gain depending on the kit you buy. Very easy to put on. Only problem... Super expensive. Last time I looked their kits are like $5000.If you shopped around you could get anew stroked crate engine for that.

The problem doesn't sound like it is power and power doesn't necessarily give you faster times. You can have all the power in the world if you can't get the truck to get traction it does nothing for you.... (much like the Viper)

Track suggestions.
-loose as much weight as you can before you run... take out anything u got laying in the bed, spare tires, subs, whatever u may have.
-I don't know if you can do this with big tires like that but drop the tire pressure. The tires will set on a larger portion of rubber, thus giving you more grip. Don't drop them till they are flat... but enough to give you a bit more surface to grip with. (lots of people I know do this with street cars when they bring them to the track so they will grip better)
-don't launch in 4WD it will only slow your truck down. A trucks 4wd is not the same as a rally type AWD car (like the Lancer Evo or the WRX Sti) they are not geared for racing an you will more then likely break something launching in 4wd.
-learn your truck... A lot of track times especially in bracket racing revolves around people consistantly launching the same. They learn the certain points in their truck, how much throttle to give it on the launch, when to shift. If your truck breaks free or tires break free try a little less acceleration or try launching at a little lower RPM.
-1/8 mile speed times have a large percentage on the driver. Usually your 1/8 mile time gives you several speeds at different intervals in the track. Did you save ur old track slips? saving track slips can help u find the areas in which you need to work on.

oh and for my Viper comment earlier I saw a Viper at the 1/4 mile track run a Camero SS. The Viper slid and the tires broke free on every shift and the Camero Killed it. You figure the Viper got atleast a 100-200 Extra HP which did it nothing cuz it can't put it to the pavement. Just some food for thought.

The driver was probably some yuppie *******.You should never try to seriously drag a car like that without slicks on it.
