Default CAB SWAP!!!

They said it was foolishness. But they were wrong! Well not really... But I thought I'd show what I've done. I bought a parts truck the same color and style as my truck with the four doors. Mine had the two doors but the extended cab. It took one day to remove the fenders and hood, gut the new cab and rework the HVAC box. Then, a half a day to separate my old cab. At the end of the second day, the cabs were swapped. then it took all the third day to get it running.

Not hard, they were the same year, and both 1500's. This is the ultra high tech mounting device known as channel iron bolted to the seat anchor points...Name: 100_0257.jpg

Had her running 24 hours later, and no problems... An awesome adventure, to say the least. Then began the legal aspect of it. I took the truck to the county vehicle inspector, he looked it over, and gave me some paperwork to fill out, sign, and notarize. Now, my registration has two VINs, but no big difference, since I reused my old dash with that VIN.

Nice job. Sir you are a crazier man then I. I was thinking the same thing asct russ. That would of been the best time to do a body lift. Then again if your not planning on bigger tires and what not then it doesn't really matter. I bet you were just glad to have the job over with.

I'm not wanting to lift it now, maybe if gas goes back down lol. Yes, I am glad to have it done. Now I have remote entry, overhead console, power seats, in addition to my 4X4 frame. I really couldn't pass that parts truck up. I knew the person who had it, they got in a wreck that crumpled the passenger side front end in, and the insurance company totaled it out. They fronted the buy back, which I then paid them. I took it to the DMV cause the sticker on the driver door pillar Vin didn't match my dash and pcm vin, and I didn't want to run into problems later. You wouldn't believe how hard it is remembering I now have two extra doors!!
