clogged cat

Default clogged cat

i think my cat my be clogged is there any way to check this without bringing it into a shop.

If you bang on it and hear it rattle is one way. And if you have a Raytek or other brand digital thermometer the temp out of the cat should be like 50 degrees hotter than the inlet.Or you could wait until its dark out and get the truck up to temp and see if the cat. is glowing red.

What makes you think its clogged? Low/No power? Running hot?

When I thought mine was clogged, I unscrewed the front O2 sensor and fired it up and revved it up (before that it wouldnt go higher than 3k RPM or so)..

If it is clogged, best to replace or gut it.. get your power back!
