Default Need More Power!!

Well i just got another dodge 2500 it has the stock gearing in it which i believe is like 3:55"s or 3:57s but anyways in my last truck i had 4:56s and could roast my 38.5"s like they were nothing now i kinda miss that a little...i wouldn't mind havin the low gear again but i would kinda like to have enough power to turn my 35"s that came on this truck

the only thing done to it right now is headers and exhaust i was thinking chip i don't think they have a programmer for a 96 and maybe even a intake and cam possibly ( cold air and and actual intake )

Any big suggestions you feel throwing my way

Yikes, if you are in fact in the 3.55 range with 35s, she's defiantly going to not be what your used to from the 4.56s. When I ran 35" tires, I found the 4.10 gearing gave me more than plenty of power, and I was easily able to spin the tires as well. I think a 4.56 gear with a 35" tire is perfect, but that's only if you don't take take that truck out on the highway a lot. That truck is going to be pretty loud on the highway with 4.56s, it's going to be over the 2000rpm range at 65mph. So if you want more power, but be able to maintain realistic driving with the truck, I think a 4.10 gear could suffice nicely. However, a 4.56 would probably be more ideal for the rawest amount of power. Some here (like Cereal[8D]) will advocate for 4.88 gearing, but to me, I think that would be nuts for a daily driver. Perhaps when you had 38" tires before, 4.88 could have been appropriate, but a 4.56 and 35s is closest, but 4.10 will offer a larger compromise all around IMO.

4.10's are too high of a gear for 35"s. 4.56's would make it similar to a stock setup with stock gears and tires. I wouldn't go no higher than 4.56's if I was running a 35" tire.

go with 4.88's, I have 36's with 4.88's and my truck bogs when I take off at red lights. My new 35's should be here tomorrow, maybe 1 inch will make the difference. Of course I am usually pulling at least a 10,000lb trailer

I don't understand stephen why your pulling such a heavy trailer? You are going to blow that truck up. It's a 1500 single cab short bed with 36" tires. I can't see that being healthy for a 1500 with the short bed, let alone with 36" tires.

While it is heavy and if I was doing that most of the time I'd want a fullsize dually it's not like it can't handle it as long as the truck is built right to handle it.
