Hey guys, wanted to know if you've guys had this problem. It seems like the airhat is hitting up against the firewall? When I'm driving and I hit bumps, I can hear the airhat banging against something. I'm pretty sure it's the firewall. I took it off yesterday and refastended it. It's extremely tight and doesn't appear to be jumping around or anything, but it makes a banging noise from the engine bay when I'm driving. At speeds above 75mph I can hear it rattling too, or at WOT it will start slam. Think it hitting the firewall, or something else? I'd like to figure it out though because I really like it. The gains are incredible and it looks awesome under the hood.

I don't have that Mopar one but with the triangle shaped Edelbrock I have I don't have that problem. It does mount differently though.

I never had anything like that. There is a screw that hangs down from the cowling on the passenger side that I had to trim to get clearance for the air cleaner. Maybe your hitting that.

Hmm maybe I'll see if it's rubbing anything. Seems weird though, when I installed it though nothing seemed to be rubbing and it's locked in very nicely. Absolutely love the intake though. Gains are more than noticable, and I just can't get over how clean it looks. I'm all pumped out now though. IF I get that SCT tuner, this truck should be obnoxious.

Take it off and see where it's hitting. It would have rub marks or scratches. Also check the motor mounts.

Hmm. Had a chance to get up inside of the engine today and scope out where the airbreather could potentially be hitting. And sure enough, it is rubbing against the firewall where the mopar cover is. I thought the 14x3 filter was supposed to fit? The only way to fix the problem is to reduce the size of that filter. Problem is that I don't have my K&N filter box anymore and I spent $50 on that sucker. Really sucks. So I had to put my K&N FIPK back on in the meantime while I think what I want to do. I just can't stand the sound of that airbreather hitting the firewall everytime I hit a bump. It also rattles viciously against the firewall on the highway, kind of sad. I got the 1535 filter, wasn't that supposed to fit right?

I'm wondering if maybe something on your truck isn't out of whack. Has it ever been in a wreck? I don't have a 14x3 filter but it seems like it should fit as I don't hear of others having problems.

That Mopar filter assembly is not 14" x 3", it is 12.75" x 2.75". The K&N filter 1530 is 12.50 x 2.75", and should fit fine. The filter 1535 is 12.50 x 2.89, just a tad taller. As you know, I have that Mopar filter assembly, and I could fit the 2.75" tall filter no problem. Never tried the 2.89", but it appeared I had room for it, though it would have been very tight.

The reason other 14x3" filters work with a 3" tall filter is because the base is shaped different. The Mopar is not a drop base, so you can not fit a 3" tall filter (unless you have a body lift like I do, then you can fit about any filter you want).

Oh sorry. I had it confused. I don't know why I was thinking the Mopar one was a 14x3" filter.
