DAMN!! See what i was talking about! mines about to hit 160,000 and will still throw me into the seat.

 

got 107k miles on mine. Soon as i bought the truck tranny went, then plenum gasket went. Sense then its been lil stupid things, did both front u joints and thats about it did the thermo when i did the plenum. There trucks they are meant to be used and abused but loved on weekends :-) try to wash my truck at least once a week, wax it everymonth. Change the oil regularly... its all in how u take care of it

 

This is funny, most of the trucks above have over 160+ 400+ is crazy but congrats. Look at how clean ours are LOL. EDITD:Mines not miles lol.got 160K and RUST FREE. anyone close to a million?

 

It's funny, but I read a ton of griping here and in the 3rd Gen section about guys with all these common issues. I don't dispute any of them, but personally, I've not seen anything to make me suspect that Dodge trucks are of any less quality than GM or Ford.
I had my '98 1500 RCSB 5.9 4x4 for almost five years with only one minor repair under warranty and my '04 1500 QCSB Hemi 4x4 has not had a single issue in over four years.

 

I feel the same way, My 98' 5.2 and 98' 5.9 had their tranny's rebuilt at 90-100k, but i used them hard, actually suprised they held up that long. Other than that just a minor thing here and there, traded them both around 130k and still running strong. My 04' has been great to me, only thingwas i replaced the EGR valve,simple fix and its a common problem. Dodge is in no way at all any less of quality than a ford or GM.

 

I bought my truck with 30k on it 7 years ago. It now has 185k on it. I've always had great luck with it. I've only done 1 front wheel bearing, both front U-joints, tires, tune ups, oils changes, water pump and added a little 134a. It's a 1500 4x4 and I've overloaded it 3 times, moving a D-14 Allis 4000lbs, an 84 Ramcharger 4400lbs, and a Pallet of quickrete 3360lbs. Took a family vacation from KCMO to Corpus Christie, TX with mud tires, best average mpg was 18 @ 80 mph. Slowly all of my neighbors have traded their other brands for Dodges after watching mine. I wouldn't trade it for anything but another. And I've had several Mopar cars and trucks.

 

I bought my 94 with 70,000 on it, now at 137,000. When I bought it, I bought a truck that was salvaged (didnt know it, previous owner didnt turn it into the insurance company) AndI'veonly put inwheel bearings, front u-joints, clutch,and ball joints. This truck does double duty as a farm truck and as a scrap hauler on the side, so its frequently overloaded to the max (7000 lb kobota tractor on a 3000 lb tralier)

These items are designed to wear out in order to stop others from wearing.Each brand has lemons andones that wont die, my aunt had a cougar that ford recalled because the motor was junk, she gota new motor, and it still sucked ***!But ifyou buy a truck and call it a piece of **** because the u-joints wore out and the shocks wore out, well quite frankly, your a moron. They are all good when they run and peice of ****s when they dont

our 94 is modified enough to run 14.80s, and with 130,000 miles on it, the only sign of age is a bad prep job on the bumpers causing the paint to come off..but mechanically the truck is very sound, and was on the track within the past few years..

 

Every problem you listed is just maintenance, u joints wear out, shocks wear out, water pumps and thermostats wear out, and gear boxes (especially on 4x4's) wear out eventually. How many miles are on it?

Btw, if you dont think these 2nd gen rams are reliable, you are effing stupid. How many times has any of your trucks actually left you stranded? And how old are they, with how many miles?

 

99 1500, 5.2, 220k.. Tow 5 days a week. Trans at 140k, water pump, fuel pump last month. Small crap. Power door locks, heater mixer door. Chasing a small misfire problem on #4. Still runs good. If I make 400k I'll be happy. Oh yeah. Oil change 3000 - 5000 miles. Trans fluid every 15000 miles.
