Default replacing ac compressor in 96 ram

Hello, I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could tell me, or lead me to a site that explains how to replace an AC compressor for a 96 dodge ram with the5.9l gas engine. I had the shop look at it and they recharged the coolant which worked for a few weeks then ac went out again, and now they say it is the compressor and they want $600. Thank you in advance!

It's probably not the compressor since you say they charged it up and it worked!

The compressor could be bad and leaking coolant, but since it's a 96 I bet the the evap core is bad.

You need to find out where the leak is.

Most times if the compressor is leaking at a seal it will make noise cuz the bearing is bad.
