Default new break smell?

Just had new break pads put on yesterday and rotors referbished. After driving home with them i noticed a hott, odd smell coming off the breaks. This is still happening today, is it just cuz theyre new. Will this go away?

depending on the type of pads, the break in period might be a different. I think its called "seating" or "bedding". For example, i know that some ceramic pads take 1000miles before they are seated.
here is a quick link

you might smell that for couple of days, and you shouldn't over load the brakes during this break-in time.

Wait your glad you've never done it? It's a fairly easy job. As in 15 minutes a side max.

My grandfather didn't believe it was that fast so my uncle and I did them for him on his car and took right around that time per side.

I took mine to Mieneke and had them done for $20 for both. Many shops will do it for you.

Just take them off the truck and take them to a shop to have them turned or resurfaced whatever you want to call it.
