Doesn't the 3.9L have a different transmission?

Yeah because don't the V8's have the 46RE and the V6 have a 42RE or something? This project sounds like it's going to be a ton of major work and a lot of custom work.

The 5.2 will bolt up to the 3.9 trans. Get the engine and frame mounts, computer and wiring harness from the wrecked truck. Now bolt everything in and change the computer and wiring and you are all set. The 42's were behind 5.2's change the fluid and adjust the bands it will be ok.

uh... the 3.9 trans is not gonna hold up under the 5.2's power. You need the trans, computer, wireing harness and all engine/vaccum lines. Its alot of work. Prolly need to check on the fuel lines as well.

the 3.9 trans is a a500, the 5.2 is an a518.

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't pull it out of your a** and feed a guy false information like that. Making a mistake is one thing, we all do that, but saying something as major as that when you obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about is just plain wrong. After just a quick internet search, you could have figured out

Motorbrreath is right. The 3.9L had the 42RE (A500) transmission, the 5.2L and 5.9L had the 46RE (A518) transmission. If the 5.2L bolted up to the A500, which is doubtful, I agree with Motorbrreath and highly doubt it would hold up to the 5.2L.
