Hey Hank,

acetone may save $ on mileage but it will dry out and eat up the o-rings in fuel injectorsand then the $ you save on gas will be spent on repairs.

The only problem with these links to the so called "EXPERT TESTERS" is that how can you trust their motives?None of us know any of these guys and have no idea what they have invested in these things,or better yet, what they have invested in NOT proving that it could work.

As you saw earlier,I posted many links to these so called testers with proof to the contrary of the link you posted. Some links were also form many people using it themselves and claiming acetone works and have had no damage to their vehicles. So who to believe?

It really comes down to what "YOU" want to believe or dis-believe.Without seeing it for yourself you can never say either way.

I will be testing this soon on my 97 Ford and am anxious to see the long term effects.I will post either way on it,good or bad.

Acetone eats rubber and Fords are good at starting fires in the engine bay. It goes without saying that if you dump acetone in your Ford's tank for a long enough time that the injector O-rings will start leaking as well as any flexible fuel line in the system. You will, in short order, have a tremendous Car-B-Que!!!

Im going to find out man. This is a beater for me that I use as a haul vehicle anyway,so if something happens,no real loss.

Now I still am leery about the whole eating rubber and plastic issue.Sure pure acetone only will eat these things but being so diluted? I don't know.As others have posted, they have had orings and whatnot soaking for yrs in acetone with no damage at all.

We'll find out soon.

I've said this time and again on this forum and the VW forum so I'll say it again:

If acetone increased mileage then it would be blended into the fuel at the refinery.

Maintain the vehicle properly (air filter, fuel filter, oil, properly inflated tires, no racing like a banshee) and you'll get great mileage. These snake oil tricks have been around for decades, and there's always a new crop of suckers who always fall for them.
