Default oil pressure gauge

i have a 99 1500 4x4 with a 5.9, and my oil pressure gauge keeps dropping to 0, and will go back up to where its supposed to be a few seconds later. does anyone know why this is happening and is it bad? Im not sure if this factors in, but my speed sensor is all screwed up and needs to be replaced. thanks for the help!

My 5.2L does this often and has sent me into a sheer panic. I think the pressure sending unit is faulty and I'm planning to replace it.

thanks for the reply, let me know if that works for you. by the way, i was thinking about the HHO conversion kit, but couldnt figure out if it really worked or not from any credible sources. does this work well for you?

i know this sounds stupid, but check your oil first.

oil pressure sending unit is in the conveniently impossible location on the back of the block, sightly to passenger side, beside distributor cap. remove air filter to see it.

new sending unit fixes some people's problem, but not all. you might also be low on oil, clogged pickup screen, clogged oil pump, worn out engine, etc.

some people recommend installing a manual oil pressure gauge to verify problem. the ram uses the pcm to interpret the signal and operate the gauge through software and its not a direct signal.

That's Great! Classic! ROTFL. It's not your fault, 5.9madness, it's a joke from another thread.

He doesn't have an HHO box, just methane injection straight from his smart a$$.

I literally had tears in my eyes after reading that.
