Default How can I improve gas mileage?

I am a student with a student budget.....therefore I need to know if you guys have any tips for me to get better gas mileage. Are there any types of bolt-on stuff that will help? I have a hard tonneau cover on my bed, so I believe that reduces wind resistance, and I know that I should drive better (don't floor it all the time and stuff like that) Right now I am getting 11 mpg in the city and 12.5 on the highway.

I found good mpg increases when i put on a fastman tb, mine is a 5.9l and I used a 52mm.

If you have anything bigger than 2.25 dual's on the exuast, that's a problem also.

yeah, get the 52mm throttle body or get yours boared out. it was an excellent upgrade. I got a Fastman on a group buy here for $220 delivered (I think it was delivered anyway).

Tire pressure might help.

I run closer to the maximum pressure rating for my tires and get 15/19.

16 to 18 mpg on a 3/4 ton? Wow! I have a 02 2500 with the 5.9 4wd and I get 11 1/2 at best and I baby it. I don't go over 70 on the highway in hopes of saving gas. I travel 73 mi round trip to work (all highway) and I use a 1/4 tank. I only have 39000 mi.

I HAVE AN 89' W250 WITH A 5.9. WITH MY PLOW AND A LOAD IN THE SANDER I GET ABOUT 7-10 MPG. MY BEST ADVICE IS DON'T DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT & ACCELERATE SLOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR BEST GAS MILEAGE. ALSO TORNADO MAKES A SETUP WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO INCREASE GAS MILEAGE. I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE THAT BOUGHT THEM AND THEY SAY THEY WORK, BUT DON'T HAVE ONE MYSELF. THEY MAKE ONE FOR ALMOST EVERY MODEL CAR OR TRUCK. THEY ARE A LITTLE PRICY. ABOUT 50 $ MOST APPLICATIONS.
