Question how much hp will a stock 1996 5.9 v8 ram have

i have a 1996 dodge ram sport 5.9 v8 (red) all stock and wanted to know how much hp does it have

About 235 hp, about 330 ft/lbs of torque.

dam thats less than i thought....so how can i get it to 300hp...or atleast close enough

The published horsepower was 230 at 4400 RPM.

yeah i think the 360 hold back alot of power stock !!!!!!

Post the mileage and I can tell you if she can handle the mods needed for 300HP. Take a look at my sig. My 5.2 has more ***** (a lot more) than the 2001 5.9 i just bought. Below will cost you about 1500 for engine components brand new. THe only thing you will have to do is get someone to weld the Header pipes into the cat, but installing the headers and pipe extensions can be done with basic tools, lots of break free and a sawzall.

And if you are gonna get a chip, get the B&G over the mopar PCM. THe only reason you need the mopar PCM is if you have a factory warranty.

If you want all the info on where to get good deals for the stuff i got, just PM me. No matter what your mileage, you can do what I have. I have 145K on the engine and it pulls like a beast.
