The death flash is a firmware upgrade for your pcm, the "upgrade" is called the deathflash due to dodge deciding to retard the timing on our engines. Cutting performance for certian years.

Is there any way to tell if my 99 Ram 4x4 5.9 has the death flash?? If I do have it, how do I get rid of it?

If you have any software update (sticker on your pcm with new lettering after your pcm p/n) then you can bet it's been applied. The magnum motors were prone to spark knock due to the belly pan gasket leaking so the quick fix was to just retard timing 4 degree's.

To get rid of it you'll need a new flash by Superchips or SCT. SCT is more $$ but the performance is greater. I do custom SCT flashing and you can pm me for details.
