I bought mine for my 01 from Crutchfield.com I highly recommend them. I originally got the one with the extra hole below the radio and a cover tha snapped on but I didn't like it so I later got the one that just mounted the the radio in the middle and had a black trim around it.

There is the link for one I think I used. I like this one a lot.

Here is a link to the first one I used.

It worked but to me didn't look anywhere near as clean and just didn't look right to me. The dash bezel like hit the bottom piece where the cover went. Overall this one worked but I didn't like it a whole lot so switched to the one above.

Here is a wiring harness kit if you don't already have one. A much better option than cutting the plug off the factory harness imo. Especially for $10. If you buy your headunit from Crutchfield they give you both of these the harness and kit for free.

Here is mine installed. It's not very good pics since they are from my phone but they show you how it's mounted.
The face is flipped out here.

Here it is looking normal

I made mine out of a sheet of steel and a couple sections of angle pretty quickly (not sure if you have access to metal working tools).

I like it because I was able to tuck my laser jammer display in above my head unit.

Someday when I have more time, I'll make a better one out of diamond deck...

That sounds like it would be pretty cool. I just don't have access to tools to do that or scrap metal and for $10 it's not worth my time to try to make much if anything out of metal. However I think it would look cool. Not sure about the diamond plate idea though.

Do you have it rattle? That would be another thing I'd worry about. Seems like with the subs everything metal in the truck wants to rattle.

It's a Alpine 9830. I really like it a lot. You can find them on eBay still but the model is a couple of years old so you can't find it new. It was a fairly expensive stereo back then not sure about now. I've looked at new stereo's and haven't found any that I like as much as mine. The new Alpine's don't have the motorized face. Not sure why but I love that feature. I hate having to push up the one in the other car since it only flips down by it self. I love being able to tilt it in different directions and have it open and close on it's own. If you do look for one on eBay the 9831 is similar but you can change the colors of the buttons to almost any color you want. Just something cool.

It is Ipod compatible but more expensive than some. You can buy $100 box from Alpine. Crutchfield used to have it I assume they still do and I've seen it other places as well. With this box it will control the ipod from the head unit and all. The new ones do this with a $30 cable instead of having to have the box that costs $100 so it's just a little more expensive.

However for $30 you can get a cable for it which charges the ipod and plays it though the head unit. You can't control the ipod from the head unit or see the artist/track info with on the head unit with this cable. So basically you just control it from the ipod itself if you get this cable. This is the one I have due to me not wanting to spend $100 to hook up my ipod and I usually wouldn't control it from the H/U anyway.

Overall I'm not sure about buying a used H/U but if you want something used I for sure recommend this one. I love it. Out of all the new ones I looked at I've yet to find one I like half as much as this one. I was looking at new ones for the other car yet decided to just keep my JVC Aresonal one that's in it as I couldn't find many new ones I liked. Eclipse had one but that was the only one.
