Truck Suddenly Won't Start
A quick test , take cap off valve ( looks like bicycle pump valve) its on your fuel rail . Depress valve and see if gas squirts out . It wont tell you how much pressure in Ibs. without a gauge , but it will give you an idea if you have your line pressurized .
either i'm blind or the valve just wasn't there on the fuel rail. it doesn't matter though because i ended up just taking the fuel line off the inline fuel filter on the side where fuel entered the filter (in case the filter was clogged). there was no pressure. when i turned the ignition on there was no pressure. when i cranked the engine there was no pressure.
question, i left the line disconnected, so there was no back pressure. could this prevent a fuel pump from attempting to operate?
also, i checked the fuse for the fuel pump, it was good. and i used 3 different relays for the fuel pump relay, no change.
not once during this whole process did i hear a humming from the fuel pump to tell me it's doing something.
i'm pretty convinced now i'm dealing with a bad fuel pump. agree/disagree?

It will still pump fuel (if the pump is good) even though the fuel line is disconnected. The fuel shrader valve is on the drivers side of the fuel rail. There is no inline filter on these trucks to btw. I would say that you need a new fuel pump.
so i replaced the fuel pump and and started right up!!! Now, there is one unfortunate aspect of this lovely day. I forgot to install the little screen that goes on the bottom of the fuel pump. How necessary is this little screen?
Now, because I have a large hole in the bed of my truck it won't be too difficult to take the fuel pump out and put it on, but if I don't have to I'd rather not. any thoughts?

yea i'm going pull the pump out and put it on this tuesday afternoon. should i buy a new one (advance auto or autozone), or can i just use the one from the old pump?
and as for why there is a large hole in the bed of my truck, i don't wanna talk about it, lol, you'll just kick me.
