Default 96 a/c problems

First off, my a/c works, but it takes about 5 min to get semi cold, doesnt get freezing cold. I went to autozone and bought a charging kit in a single bottle that came with a charge gauge, the gauge said it was slightly over charged, so i added a lil more in. didnt notice a difference in the temp. Now is there a way i can make it anycolder or am i screwed and have to drain the system and start trouble shooting.

Now another a/c problem i have is i believe is a vacuum leak, when i have the heat or a/c running, and i give it alot of gas or at cruising speed on the highway it only then blows at the vents on the windshield defrost and stops from the panel. i checked the lines in the engine bay and i could find a leak, could the leak be behind the hvac controls.

and could my vac leak be the problem that the air isnt ice cold??????

Not sure. I had a similar problem on the truck when I first bought it, turned out to be a weak A/C clutch I believe.
