Thanks for the tips guys. I ordered an IAC valve and I'll post up the results once I've got it installed.

Red face

Received the IAC valve today. Only $30 shipped from ebay, so I'm hoping I'll get lucky. I'll try to get it installed tomorrow evening.

well, before installation of the new IAC valve, I took the truck out for a run.... and it didn't stall! The RPMs did drop as far as about 300 RPM, but not enough to stall the truck. I'll try again soon to see if the stalling problem is indeed 'correcting itself'.

you may need to clean the t body the big holes in the manifold that look like a carb the iac may need cleaning or replaced. when power is lost the iac has to relearn it self put in the new iac you have and clean the TB

Well, as it turns out it was the IAC. the truck did stall a couple more times after my last post, so I installed the IAC and there's a night-and-day difference. Thanks so much for your insight dhvaughan! I like inexpensive repairs, especially ones that make my wife think I actually know something after all.

Thumbs up Ah haa!

Good for you! I am glad to know about this repair. I have had my battery disconnected a few times this summer replacing a water pump and new headlights and I have not had the stalling problem, yet. I hope that if it does stall that I can change the IAC and have the same result. I really do believe that if you dig deep enough you will find the truth. Good work and thanks.

Well at this point I can't say if it was the battery that led to the IAC problem or if it was just coincidental. After all, I had let the truck sit for a few weeks, and maybe the IAC just seized up from lack of use.
