More light please!
So I just recently moved to the country, going to have lots of late night backroad driving to get home come winter. I have a nice set of Hella 500 series driving lamps, 7" diameter. I really need the extra light, deer are BRUTAL up here. I also REALLY don't want to drill into my chrome bumper. All the bull bars i see for sale are so big, bulky... 4wd looking. I have a 2 wheel drive truck. I need a simple way to mount my lights on.
Any suggestions... I want to keep it as clean and simple as possible. It gets cold up here too, so i have grill inserts for all openings in the front (6). Hoping to have something hug the plastic shroud under the bumper, and have two tabs end up sort of where the front plate mounts.

Exactly... only it's more than I wish to spend. I took the front plate off and used the existing holes. problem solved. No one will notice the plate missing with a bunch of light coming from there.
Well... you can always mount them up behind your grille if you wanted to...
I took some old angle from a bed frame and made a bracket that bolted to the insde of the bumper. I used this to mount my laser jammer modules on (so that they rested in the middle of the rectangular holes in the bumper. But you could probabably easily add lights with a similar approach. The only downside is reduced effectiveness of your lighting... but it's better than nothing.
Good luck,
Cartman

Sylvania Silver Stars are OK, but there are better bulbs out there, and at much cheaper prices. GE Nighthawks are rated better than the Sylvanias, and there is a Philips bulb (can't remember the exact product name) that is rated better as well.
Nokyas are also good, EuroDezigns are best IMO, Hometheaterman has some that are good (can't remember the brand, maybe he'll chime in here).
