Default How Much Fluid Does My Tranny Take

If I drop the pan to change the fluid and filter (I'm not pumping anything out of the converter or anything, just dropping the pan), how much fluid should I buy to replace it? And I should only get ATF+4, which I believe they sell at Wal-Mart now, in addition to the dealer? Any help is greatly appreciated!

5 or 6 quarts. Really what i do is dump in fluid and check it on the dipstick, then once it reads ok, i start up the vehicle, and check the dipstick again, add until it reads ok. Then i run it in move the shifter into every gear for 3 seconds and check it again, add fluid as necessary. THEN i drive it down the road get it nice and hot and check the fluid AGAIN!

Proper fluid level is critical.
