Default Gettin ready for the longtubes...

Anyone got any pointers for pullin these stock manifolds off? The headers will be here tommrow and i want to make it as smooth as possible.

I have full air tools and breaker bars, just to throw that in there.

Spray them down with PB Blaster a couple times before you get ready to work on them.

With air tools dont even worry about pb messy blaster. bzzt off. If they break, have vice grips. But once you break them you can pull the manifold off so you dont have to worry too much.

Its 6 bolts per side + collector bolts (2 or 3 idk) So its not all that hard.

What are you doing about the rest of the exhaust? Taking it out and driving open headers to the shop?

Start spraying them with PB Blaster. Try not to break them.

After you spray the manifold bolts down with the PB and let them soak awhile, rap the ones you can reach once or twice square on the head of the bolt with a hammer. It helps break the rust up and stretches the bolt threads very slightly and can help ease them out.

You can use a breaker bar if you can't get them any other way, but slowly add pressure until the bolt gives, don't just give her hell and snap a bolt.

the official Mopar 'Rust Penetrant' from the dealership
sprays a grey foam flecked with little black dots
that seems to work better
than any penetrating oil
I have ever used,
including PB Blaster, Kroil, and ZEP45

thanks yall. I needed the breaker bar on a few of em, but they came right off. I had forgotten i had an engine swap done last year, so the rust wasnt too built up on the manifolds. I did slice the hell out of my hand on pass side heat shield. why invest in mechanix gloves and not wear them...

now im just waitin on UPS man to get here. I cant wait.

Indy- I ordered the y pipe with it. Ive cut the cat off already, so its just gonna be headers, y, then flow. 3 inch all around. mmmm cant wait.

now if the mail man will just bring me my fastman tb....
