Default I drive noise (exhaust help)

1998 2wd 5.2L Sport reg cab.

no radio, no speaking. 100% dragstrip noise.

AHHBABABABABABABABA. you get the idea.

a few months back i looked at my muffler and saw how rusted and dead it was, almost falling off. so i took a sawzall and had my way with it untill i had o2 sensor, cat, o2 sensor and end of pipe. I was ok with the sound and it got me .3s in the 1/4 mile and it was free. After taking it off i stepped on it and it caved in from rust, great.

lately ive been fixing old Marla up a bit, replaced the burned out foglights, fixed a broken tailgate cable, and did my usual oil change and checked everything. Earlier that day i lost power after going over a bump, felt like my exhaust got clogged up or something so i checked that. I looked into my lack of pipe and saw the honeycomb sideways blocking up everything and rolling around. So i cut it off haha. I expected it to be Extremely loud, and i know its illegal, i dont drive it unless i have to right now but i do want to start driving it again and i want a good sound. Ive taken great care of the engine, the only bad thing is the exhaust. It doesnt burn any oil at all and for the 6 months ive had the truck ive taken great care of it.

my exhaust consists of headers and the ypipe right before the cat so they are seperate still. I want a loud racey tone that can get attention while listening to the radio. I know thats kindof like asking for 800 hp and 40 mpg but it cant be that bad. Ive been looking at gibson supertruck but im up for nearly any suggestion. try to keep it reasonably priced though, i need tires... it doesnt have to be a kit either, just cat and muffler combo suggestions. i at least want to be heard at the dragstip ya know?

sorry about the long post and thanks for any and all help!

Chris

well one option is to run the exhaust out the side in front of the rear passenger tire, wether it is single or dual that is up to you, i suggest a flowmaster 40, super 40 or 44 series muffler for good tone. i have a dual outlet 40 series and i love it you can still listen to the radio and have 8 cylinders playing any tune you like.

I'd put a Magnaflow cat on there and a Flowmaster 40 muffler if you want it decently loud. That's the setup I run. If you want it really loud you could swap out the FM40 for a Flowmaster 10 series. They are supposed to be as loud as straight pipes with just a different tone.

I run a gutted stock cat with glasspack, for a 2-into-1-into-2 setup, it sounds pretty good.

I have a MagnaFlow high flow cat and a MagnaFlow straight through design muffler,(I don't remember what its called) and it sounds wicked. Very throaty and loud but mellow. Sounds better than any Dodge I've heard around here. Got it done at a local muffler shop for $396 after tax.

so what im going to do is get the summit dual exhaust and muffler kit, weld a bung into the pipe so that my first o2 sensor actually does its job and just see how that does, i really dont have much more money to do anything and this way, if i want to change the muffler it will be very easy with all the piping already in place. Im to the point where cutting things off cant do any more good so i guess ill do things the traditional way

i think that should do the trick right? does anyone know how these summit mufflers sound? i cant find any sound clips on our trucks on youtube with them.

Thanks,
Chris
