Need a y pipe for a 96 dodge ram sport
I am new at this, but here it goes! I bought a 1996 indy 500 ram
(96 dodge ram 1500 sport), and when i bought it i noticed it had some exhaust problems. I'm going to put a dual exhaust system on it later, but for now just want to get it right. They cut out the cat which is in the y pipe, so they used flex pipe and cobbled it together, and as an added kicker, cut off the front o2.the price they want for that pipe is insane, so i want to know if anyone knows if any other y pipe (w/o the cat in it of course)will work for that truck? A 98 durango sure looks close. Someone please help!!

Any of the Ram 1500s up to the 1999 model year (approximately) will have the manifolds piped into the catalytic converter. The converters for those years was dual in, single out (rather than a y-pipe). So without a cat, you might have to build (or have built for you) a custom y-pipe.
Jegs (www.jegs.com) sells an off road y pipe with the O2 sensor threaded bungs already welded in for like 169 bucks. Bought one for my 95 and it worked great. I since put duals on and have my old one in the shop for an emergency.
Thanks for the input guys! I will look into the jegs off road y pipe. I work at an autoparts store so I went ahead and ordered the y pipe for the 98 durango, and I got it today. It sure looks close, and I will let you guys know.It has the bung and everything and it's only $50!
