rattleing underneath

Default rattleing underneath

i have a rattle underneath my truck at certain RPMS sounds like its around the cc truck has 187K on it think the cat is worn out and needs to come off? let me kno what u all think just started bout a week ago...thanks

Get under and listen. Have a helper rev the engine to that certain rpm. Make sure the truck is properly secured.

+1. Could very well be the cat, but make sure its not something else. Rap on the cat with a hammer, see if it rattles.

Also check the gas tank stone shield.

i hit the cat with a hammer and it rattles when i hit it that mean its gone?

Yes if it rattles shes toast.. If your in a non emissions area cut that B**ch out an call it a day.. Not sure if it changes what the o2 sensors say but im sure theres a DIY link on here somewhere.. Do a quick search on cat removal..

Replace it with a high flow cat. I wouldnt recommend removing the catalytic converter.

If you live in the USA, there is no such thing as a "non emissions" area, unless you meant a place that checks emissions. The main laws on catalytic converters are federal ones.

Replacing it with a high-flow converter is almost as good as not having one and you stay legal.

Bingo. I had some exhaust work done on my monte carlo a while back and they had signs posted and refused to touch anything with out cats. Mind you im in SC no emissions checks. But catalytic converters are a federal mandate.

ya i had a 95 1500 the cat was toast so i just had it removed and then they put 2 pipes runnin off the manifold straight out the butt with no muffler or anything it would set alarms off lol but i got a 30 series flow on my 2500 its got the 360 ill just get it cut and have me a Y pipe installed it should sound good with out a cat and a flow rite?
