Default front end

Hi i recently purchaced a 1999 ram 1500 quad cab everything seems fine with this truck, but when i'm driving down the road and over bumps it makes a loud clunk witch to me feels like it bottoms out. does this mean i need new front shock or is this just a dodge thing i have only owed gm pickups up to now.

Default RE: front end

I'd bet it's the bushing on the bottom of your shock....reack your hand in the spring and see if you can get the shock to move up and down at all....if you can move the whole lower half its the bushings....may as well get new shocks.

..since you are doning the front, you might as well do the back, and since you have all your shocks off now, you might as well change the front springs out to heavier ones. and since your front end is higher now you might as well get ad-a-leafs and lift blocks for the rear axle, and...oh wait....thats where i went wrong....get too carried away on simple repairs and end up modding the hell out of it...on second thought, just fix whats broken! lol
