Default cam positon sensor - I declare this 99 318 fixed

If you didn't read my post

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-ram-tech/172658-99-crank-position-sensor-on-318-a.html

My 99 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 318 was periodically (always on the way home from work in the heat, never in the morning when cool) dying while I was going down the highway. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor ($75)which didn't fix it - then later, at the same time, I replaced the cam position sensor ($50) (distributor pickup plate) and the ignition coil($35). It's fixed. If I had to guess I'd say it was the cam position sensor because that's what it was twice on my 88 Ramcharger with a 318 (same symptoms). Thanks for all the help from this forum, Frank

Default NOT fixed - For Sale

I spoke to soon. Yesterday (Saturday) the truck died three times on the way home. The first time it had to cool 45 minutes before it would start. The second and third time it didn't have to cool as long. After the third time I had my wife towe me the rest of the way home but the truck idled without dying all the way (20 minutes).

Part replacements so far include the crankshaft position sensor, the camshaft position sensor and the ignition coil. This is a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 Magnum with 109k, original AC, power everything except seats, pulls to the right, dies on hot days.

The truck is for sale - I live 30 minutes northwest of Fort Worth, Texas.

Not that you care since you're selling now, but it almost sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

I think you're right! It never states in his other thread that he checked it. And if the PCM board is loose inside by the plugs, one can be had at a junk yard for a reasonable price. Wish I lived in Texas. That truck can be had for pretty cheap.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I figure I've put $350 into this truck since the problem began. Orielly's Auto quoted me $350 for a PCM and $220 for a fuel pump assembly. I could gamble some more hoping that if I fix it I can get more for it (I'm going to sell it fixed or not) or I can sell it "as is" and cut my losses. This is a quad cab by the way if anyone is interested in taking it on. I want $2000.
