As far as i know, its in the fuel pump itself (in the tank). Im not sure if you can clean the filter by itself. It would probably be an ordeal and a half. its probably easier just to replace the whole fuel pump, but thats like 300 dollars. If you do replace the filter, do us a favor and fix us up with a diy.

In their infinite wisdom, the engineers at Dodge decided a while back to not put a changeable filter in-line between the tank and engine. The only 'filter' we have is located in the tank in the form of a strainer.

If I remember correctly, the ones in our trucks are also part of the pump unit itself and not replaceable individually, but I'm not 100% on that.

I think they are changeable, as I believe my father's 1994 Dodge Dakota had it changed once (and he has the pump inside his tank).

Besides the strainer, the pressure regulator also is a filter. It sits on top of the fuel pump.Outside the tank. So technically it is replaceable .

Correct!

Fuel regulator is also the filter.
It is replaceable but quite expensive (Abt $100).

I've never been able to find an aftermarket one and don't expect the dealer to stock the part.
