Default Dont Believe Bull $%^&

I was screwin around on the internet and found this crap about diy dent repair. It said that if you heat up the center of the dent with a, get this, a hair dryer!; then immediateally spray compressed carbon dioxide (computer dust remover) on the heated metal, the dent will pop out and go away! Just for the sake of experimentation i got a hairdryer and a can of computer duster, went outside, and tried this on on a big on my stepdad's Camry. I prolly did the steps 5 or 6 times just to see the results, but it did not work. From what i can understand, a hair dryer will never get the metal hot enough to make this work, a heat gun would do better. This weekend i'm going to try to use a heat gun instead of a hairdryer to see if this will work.
But, dont believe that a hair dryer will work, its been proven!

be careful with that heat gun. they can produce really high heats of 400-500+ degrees and i can see paint blisters in somebody's future.

i wouldn't count on this working for dent removal. by the way - computer duster is probably just a little compressed air which is not real cold. CO2 is used in some (not all) types of fire extinguishers and some paintball tanks. its very very cold and will shrink metal, but i can't see it removing dents. it WILL chill a pack of beer instantly.

I know about the heat gun "rules" its how i made my custom emblem setup. Yeah, i know but its worth a try. there are so many dents on the bedsides, its not even funny. so, its worth a try.

One trick that sometimes works is to heat the area, get behind the dent and push out on it, then rapidly cool it. I'm guessing that's where this idea came from.

Use dry ice to cool it.
Depending on how big or deep they are, hail dents will pop out over time.

+1. Cold spray for burns works too, but I think the computer duster is cheaper.
