I had the 33's with the 3.55s then switched to 4.56's with the same tire. Damn! it woke up that little 360 but gave up the gas milage to about 11 on highway. Once I put 35's on it really evened things out and with my other changes i run about 15 to 16 highway. As far as axles go, never say never. Defenitaly check out different shops if your not doing it yourself. Some guys out there(tanner 4x4) will straight jack your sh*t up. Good luck!!

My gas mileage shouldn't get any worse. I only get 9-10 now if i leave it in OD but if i let it run around 2300-2500 i can get 14.6. My truck is just working too hard to move. Today I desided to be nice and let it have OD at 70mph i drove at halve throttle the whole time and any slight incline it had to down shift to 3rd to maintain speed. Ya i checked with this one shop here in town and he was claiming that I don't want the same gear ratio front and rear that i had to have differ ratio front and rear. When I told him that thats asking to broke the transfer case he got all pissed off. Funny thing the 97 Dodge 4x4 he just did a rear end in came back and take a wild gess what was laying in the floor..........a transfer case busted completely in halve due to this issue. Needless to say he want touch my truck. I have a guy in the next town doing mine he builds race cars and owns his own shop he will be installing the gears and setting them up. Costin me $500 for both but he does damn good work. If it wasn't for him I would be doing it myself but then i need to buy a few more tools no biggy I have built them before.

500$ per diff is a good deal. Especialy if your not having to take them out. I payed 450 the first time I regeared my ol' ranger and had to take out the diffs. I work construction and met a guy who does Hill Climb cars on the side and took me under his wing with gear work so the last time i just traded electrical work for the gear swap. Alot of the smaller shops will let you help them out after hours and cut down on rates......just a thought. So did you look into Precisions master install kit? Only heard good things.
