ABS parts woes
The right (passenger) front anti-lock brake sensor is defective on my 1996 RAM 1500 4x4 (Yes, my truck has all-wheel anti-lock brakes). I have had this confirmed by a dealer and their diagnostic super-computer.
The price for this part from the dealer is over $400.00. I have tried the aftermarket and NAPA has the sensor for approx $110.00 CDN but it is on backorder. The NAPA stores I called all say that it looks like it will be months, if ever, before the can get it in.
I have also looked at the entire HUB assembly with the ABS sensor included. There seems to be lots of sources for a 97 and up HUB but not for a 96. I found one source the has a listing for a 96 with ABS sensor at a reasonable price. Does the 97 HUB/ABS Sensor work on the 96?
I am a little skeptical since this is the only source I found.
What have other owners done? Buy from the dealer or is their a source I haven't found yet?
Thanks in advance...

I'm pretty sure 96 and 97 use the same sensor and hub.
The sensor is external of the hub and is serviced separately.
I've never seen the sensor integral to the hub on these trucks but I guess it's possible an aftermarket hub could have the sensor built in. I would investigate before purchasing.
Parts listings are frequently wrong.

I am looking for a reliable source that is less expensive than the dealer. If I can just get the sensor then great, otherwise I will buy a HUB/Sensor assembly.
Where have other owners purchases these from?
