I had 'real' duals with no cats & 2 flowmasters on my '97. When you get on it, they sound like glasspacks.
Had a few people that didn't believe I had flowmasters because of the sound....until they looked under the truck

Cutting the cat will make a little louder. BUT...there are 2 small pipes going into one & an O2 sensor threaded into the cat. Might be an issue.

Technical question... is it technically a straight pipe when you still have a cat? I grew up where the only way it was a "straight pipes" was if the cats and the mufflers were both gone.

OK. Thought maybe I was crazy, glad to see I'm not. I get annoyed by people that claim they have "straight pipes", and then talk about their converter or their dual out muffler. Wanted to make sure my annoyance was not ill-founded.
