Default Reverse lights

As you can guess, my reverse lights are not working. They've been out of order for quite some time now, but from what I can remember, it was shortly after gettin my tranny rebuilt that I noticed them not working. I was told that it could be a wire that did not get re-connected, but with my limited knowledge about wiring, I'm not really sure. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be/how i can fix this? THanks

Mine only work if the shifter is in 'R' and I wiggle it down a bit from where it naturally wants to sit. This is a common problems with Dodges IE: the reverse lights not working. Most times if you move the stick around while its in "R" without moving out of gear you can find the spot that they will decide to turn on at, if not its most likely a wiring issue.

Check all your fuses?

A common problem? My family has owned at least four Dodges, none has ever had a problem with the reverse lights.

My parents had a Ford once that did though.

I'm the first to admit Dodge's have lots of common issues but this isn't one I've heard of before or much before if I've heard of it I don't remember. Maybe I just haven't heard much about it though.

I know of 3 other 2nd gens besides myself and they all do it, I was under the impression its a common problem... Maybe im wrong and we all just happen to not have reverse lights for some odd reason.

I'll keep an eye out for it now. You people make me all paranoid about my truck.

lol Jason, nothing to be paranoid about. The only 2nd gen body that does not do it in our little group is the one with a Manual transmission and his lights work fine. I just assumed and I was told by the other guys in the group it was a common problem.. I could be wrong but its odd since none of ours work without using the wiggle technique.

LOL!!! My Ram dose the same thing. Never had a problem till after the tranny swap. I just wiggle the shift lever and they come on if I need them. Most of the time I just roll with it, if they're on or not.

Nah, just a Ford. Problems galore. Nothing unusual.
