Red face let the fun beging

I have lots to do today. I have to replace my upper and lower ball joints, The stabilizer bar links, track bar, and front axle shaft u-joints,and inner tie rod end. I might as well do the brakes and check the hubs. God...... I might as well replace the hubs since they'll be out. The work isn't bad and I don't mind doing it. I just don't like spending the money.

LOL!!! Yeah the hard part is done. Getting everything apart. That went smooth. Now I need to know what front axle I have. so I can get the right ball joints. I looked at the sticker under the hood and it just says Dana 4. Is this a Dana 40 of Dana 44? Then the guy down at Napa said something about the upper ball joint being off set. How do I know what off set I need? I think there were only two. A 1 degree and 2 degree. But I think that was for trucks that have a dana 44 front axle.

What do you guys know about this?

My Ram is a 98 sport 4X4 1/2 ton.

The only axle for the front of a 1500 was the Dana 44.

The offset ball joints are designed to adjust camber I believe. Just take an old one in and match it up.

And it's the lower one that can be purchased as adjustable. If you have no tire wear issues , just go with stock.

yeah it was one or the other. I just went with the stock ones. Everything is done except for the axle u-joints. I can't get them till Monday. It only took about three hours counting beer and BS time to do the work. Having the right tools makes a huge difference.

Here I go again. The front end is all taken care of and now two weeks later my fuel pump took a dump on me. did the old tap the fuel tank to get home last night. Now I have the truck apart and the fuel pump out ready to hit up Napa in the morning. Oh joy.... 175,000 miles things just start to go bad.

Get a new fuel filter while you are there.
