Default Wheel Spacers?

I want to clear larger tires on my Ram. However my stock suspension geometry gets in the way. I have 245/70R/16's on my truck now, and when I turn fully one way or the other, the inside of the tire rubs against my lower control arm. If I were to use a wheel spacer, would I be able to alleviate this problem to some degree, while still maintaining my stock rims?

New wheels are out of the question at this point, according to my accountant..

If I use spacers, I will use them on all 4 wheels. Does anyone know of a good spacer that will let me do this?

Those tires shouldn't be rubbing at all. I have 265X70X16's and have run 265X75X16's with no rubbing issues on my 4X2. I'm wondering if there isn't something else going on. Are you sure it's stock height?

I agree with Aim4squirrels. I had 265/70/16's on the stock rims that did not rub at all. I have 275/60/17's now on Indy/SST wheels. I THINK that was the stock size for those wheels. No rubbing whatsoever.

I've never seen those rims before. I have the chrome ones that have that exact center cap, but even the spare doesn't look like that. weird.

I did remember reading somewhere that there is an adjustment you can make to the steering "bump stops" to keep them from rubbing, but you loose some turning radius. Let me see if I can fine that post.

Thanks for the link, thats only for 4x's though. I dont have those bolts. It must be a rim back spacing thing with the base model rims. I see 2nd gens all the time with the wheels I have, I'd be willing to bet they have similar problems.

Anyways, if I were to put a spacer back there, this problem should go away, correct? Anyone know of a good quality spacer?

Spacers should do away with that.

There was a recommended brand in one of those old threads. I searched "rubbing" and went to the last page of results (oldest) and worked my way back. Just look for the topics with wheel spacers.

Spacers aren't recommended for wheelers, but us 2wd street queens can use 'em just fine.

I stick to the streets most of the time. The hardest wheeling I do is dirt roads, and some gravel roads here and there. No prerunning or anything like that.

I've got 285/ 75 r 16 and mine done rub.. but I've got the 4x4... I drove a truck just like the one picture for the gas company with the same size tire and they didn't rub either.. so i dunno what to tell ya.. but the spacers would prolly be a good idea
