Default replaced wheel bearing now problems

hey so just the other week I had my abs sensor and wheel bearing replaced cuz they were bad. I told the guy to check my front axle and make sure that my diff leak wasnt major. He said not to worry about it cuz it was only bubbling slightly and that I should be good till next year...so i trusted the guy.

Now Just the other day it looks like my axle seal blew cuz theres gear oil all over my axle and wheel. Conveniently it was on the side that the bearing was replaced...

and now today....i tried putting it into 4wd to get out of this ridiculous driveway....it didnt work...it didnt come up on the dash and the front wheels werent spinning

what the hell happened? do you think that the wheel bearing replacement could have done this?

Which side was the work done on? If it was the passenger side and he pulled the axle out or out too far , the collar inside the CAD on the axle may have fallen off. And the small bushing in the end of the outer axle may have also fallen out. Pull the CAD motor off and have a look inside.

It was the drivers side and the mechanic claims that his repair did not cause it....

and now i just noticed today a weird noise coming from my left rear wheel almost sounds like the brake shoe is rubbing....is that possible? what else could it be?

i have posi and limited slip....idk if i should fix all this crap or sell the damn thing and get a cummins cuz thats what i've wanted for a while now....

any thoughts?

sounds like your seals blew out. I gotta change my hub on my drivers side. So I asked my buddy who is a mechanic. He changes a lot bearings on rams at his shop. He told me that when I pull the bearing, be sure not to pull the axle shaft out with it. He said once you pull out the shaft, the seals won't seal anymore. They will leak and eventually fail. Being that there was already a small leak on your truck, they should have changed your seals anyway. You gotta replace both inner and outer seals. And the inner one is a bitch to do even with a special tool to seat it. So if you ask me it was the mechanics fault. See if you can get some one to change your seals. As for your rear. Take a look, it might be something small. Better than paying someone to tell you that it was something you could have done yourself. If nothing else get the Cummins. Best of luck to you.

yeah so I talked to the guy he said it wasnt his fault so i had to pay $450 for the axle seal replacements and the 4x4 works now...the noise was actually my muffler rubbing on my drive shaft lol

Idk after dumping all this money into it it seems hopeless like its a tough call to get rid of it or to keep it. I'm just waiting for the day that my tranny dies...cuz I know thats gonna be next and i dont think I wanna lay out the cash for a new one.

I'll look around for a good deal on a cummins and see what can be done besides....i may be paranoid and it may just be in my head but i think my tranny slipped today....uh oh

All I can say is you folks are lucky. I Bought me a remanned performance transmission last year from the mainland for 1700 and I am happy as hell with it. problem was I payed another 1200 to get it shipped here to Hawaii. It still cost me less to do that then the price I was quoted to have my old trans rebuilt by a local trans shop. Be glad you don't have to pay that kind of freight.

If you love your truck that much get the performance trans.
