Default Help please!?

I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4. I was driving it today and I parked it at a buddies. I was there for a couple hours. When I went to leave, I tried to start it and all the the power was on in the truck (radio, lights, etc), however when I went to turn it over to start it, the power stopped (radio dimmed and turned off) and it wouldnt turn over. I would turn it off and try again but same thing happened. Does anyone know specifically what this could be? All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

battery could be too weak to actually turn over the starter or your starter is taking a crap, try to jump the truck if that dosnt work. get a small hammer and hit the starter a few times then try to start it, if it starts ur starter is going bad.

Before you go replacing items, check to make sure all your cables are tight, especially the cable running to the starter (at the starter end).

Always check the easy and obvious things first.

It turned out to be the starter. Wires were good. I hit the starter with a hammer while my buddy started it and sure enough it fired up. How difficult are starters to replace?
