Default I Broke it any suggestions

I have a 95 ram 1500 4x4 on 38.5 swamper boggers and I was trying to climb an 84 toyota pickup at benifiet car show for my local shriners club when i snaped the nuckle on the inner front axle shaft nothing else got hurt exept for the fender and headlight but what would be the most benificial axle shaft to replace the broken one with. by the way i think i got out good considering a built jeep that was also climbing the truck snaped a chromolly rear axle shaft on a dana 60 and blew one of his front drive shaft u joints out. my truck has a compleatly stock drivetrain and we ripped the toyota to shreds

thanks for all the help guys i will post pics soon

Chris

With tires that size you really need bigger axles especially being boggers they like to tear stuff up. I'd look into swapping a D60 in.

Its a dana 44 not a 40. And with 38's you're losing the battle with that axle, even with stronger shafts. You could swap in some chromoly ones, but you still have a weak link at the U-joint.

BEST fix would be to swap in a Dana 60. Cheapest would be to replace the shaft and u-joints. There really is no fix for running too big of meats on an axle not designed for them.
