well if you talk to somebody and you know you will need a rebuild... why not put the stuff in and see what happens?

It makes a nasty mess in the unit. Some shops will charge more if you tell them you added lucas, or tranny doctor type additives.

I tried this in my tranny once just when I was chaning the fluid and filter. I wasn't having problems but saw it and decided to treat my tranny. Well it worked fine in the summer but once winter came around and we got days under -20 degrees celcius, that lucas stuff thickened up the oil so much that my tranny would barely shift until it warmed up. I ended up draining the fluid out and replacing some, helped and I did it once more a few weeks later and it went back to normal. Soo....if you live in a place where you have colder winters, and aren't having problems with your tranny......do not add this lucas stuff in it..unless you want to sit and wait for your tranny to warm up!

Just wanted to say that I had some moderate slipping issues in my 89 D250 and now they are mild issues after having used this product. It didn't fix it completely, but it helped.

Not to jump all over your stuff here, but if a Certified trans tech tells you not to use it, and then explains why not to use it and what it really does, why would you then use it and post about it's effectiveness?

To each his own, I guess.

I would stay away. I used a bottle in my car at around 130k miles and it seemed to make things worse. In general, I stay away from Lucas. I had a friend who swore by the fuel system cleaner, so I tried it and now my gas gauge doesn't work right anymore.

My new thought process is... If you have to put additives in your fluids to make them work right, you ought to just get better fluids.

It'd probably work ok in an older tranny like pre 94 stuff.
I put some Lucas in my ram a few years back and it shuddered so bad I redrained the fluid the following week.
As a parts guy with many years experience who is supposed to sell additives, I am not a fan of any of them. The "benefits" always have a "liabilities". Use with caution.

Most t cases are just gears and chains, no hydraulic circuits or internal solenoids, or seals. So it wont make a difference to the t case, except stop small leaks.

Nobody should put that crap in there transmission though.

The only good thing that I buy from Lucas is their grease.
