yeah that prolly was a lil too extreme, but i should tell you that i installed those same shocks on my 86 blazer a few years ago, then about 30000 miles later i took the whole truck apart. when i took the shocks off they were really worn.

 

i'm running rancho's rs5000 the are for 0 to 3" lift trucks and are stiffer than those junk monroe's advance sell's them i paid $256 for all 4

well talked to parts store today, the monroes for a 2500 hd are only an inch longer, so ill prob just buy the rancho rs5000 from summit at 45 a shock.

 

not bad price you will like how they ride and perform and they go from 0" to 3" so you can do alot with them i pull a car trailer alot and they haven't failed yet good luck

 

Digging up an old post..... its come down to the rancho rs5000 or the rancho rsx17000... whatya guys think? anybody tried the rsx17000? are they any better than the 5000 series? im getting them as an xmas gift so i have a lil extra money to spend on the 17000 are they worth the extra? or bilstein 5100 series?

 

I have heard good things about the Rancho RS5000. Check out some online places like 4wheelparts.com, etc. Sometimes you can catch them doing a buy 3 get 1 free deal on shocks.

 

summit has the rs5000 for 47.95 each, or the 17000 for 61.99 figure for the few extra bucks it maybe a better shock cause the Rancho's affordable RSX17000 shocks automatically adjust themselves to the terrain, providing a better ride--on or off-road. These shocks have a valve system that instantaneously reacts to shock compression. During more aggressive compression caused by rough surfaces, the valve automatically opens to reduce ride harshness. During lighter compression, the valve closes to give you tighter handling and a smoother ride. Other features include nitrogen gas-charged twin-tube construction, bright red urethane mounting bushings, and a red convoluted boot to protect the shaft. Anybody running these shocks?

 

i donnt have ranchos on my truck now but i put 5000's on my old furd 98 and didnt really like them that much. thay made my truck ride rougher. felt alot more of the little bumps in the road and things. i would say try the other ones. just my opinion.

i got my 5000's at NTB. buy one get one free, and free install. i mean it was a sale, but maybe they are on sale again.they always have sales. worth a call.

 

**UPDATE** well got 200 summit racing gift card for xmas, was gonna go with the 17000 but they are on backorder till like mid jan so i said screw that and just ordered the rs5000 they should be here next week... cant wait lol im so used to being bounced around like a ping pong ball in my truck it should be nice to have a bit of a better ride
