sorry to hear about the 1996 Ram auto trans problem

in addition to the good advice given above
consider:

there have been past posts that the 1994 to 1996 46RH/46RE
had defective D-ring seals on some of the internal pistons
that give excessive leakage as they get old
and this shows up as some limited shifting when 'dead cold'
that get worse and worse as the ATF warms up

there are other 46RH/46RE
inherent problems listed at this helpful website:

http://www.specialtytrans.com/specia...sler_index.htm

http://www.sonnax.com/announcements/SC-46-47RHE.pdf

as cheap 'band aids'
you might try
a new filter,
8 quarts fresh ATF+3,
and a bottle of Lubegard Red Bottle from a NAPA store
{about a $100 bet on 'good luck' for your part}
but the odds are
your auto trans needs a rebuild

hope you have good luck rather than bad

Adjust your cable and then try replacing the governor presser sensor and solenoid.

Ok, this is the second time ive seen you bring this up. Do you know what part you are talking about? If you are talking about the part i think you are talking about then calling it a 2-3 shift spring is wrong, and you are misleading people. If you really are talking about the 2-3 shift spring then you are crazy, they dont break.

Please clarify what you are talking about.
