Default Another question about shocks

Hi I bought a 99 RAM 1500 4x4 5.9.....it's my first RAM and first 4x4. I went underneath to look at things and I need to replace the shocks. I'm not sure but I think it might have a small lift kit in it since there are spacers in between the axle and the leaf springs. I scraped off the rust on the shocks and wrote down some of the numbers and was hoping someone could help me out

one number was 52039485AA

another one was 56366-C

another G(or 6) BC1065

it had what looked to be like the chrysler symbol and some letters after the symbol that looked like "Lofap"

I think it said made in Brazil

Basically I"m wanting to know if these are stock or special shocks???

ANy help would be appreciated

Thanks

If they have the Chrysler logo, most likely stock.

well here at good old napa stores we have a catalog of competitors part numbers, including dealer items, bring it into an auto parts store (not an auto zone, they are the walmart of parts stores) and see if one of the numbers you have will cross into their line, this is the easiest way to find non stock parts by far.

Thanks guys, I tried searching the internet tonight and came up with nothing. I'll go by the local Napa deal tomorrow and maybe try the dodge dealership too.

This may be a dumb question but there is what looks like a shock mounted horizontally on the front steering portion of my truck. Is this normal or aftermarket? What is it called? and what does it do?

Thanks again!

that is what you call a steering stabilizer

should look something like this?

http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...ab_dual_gm.gif

should be a stock part. but it could be an after market if their is a lift kit...

also depending on what you said, the previous owner may have just put in bushings to give it a couple inches of lift without doing an entire lift kit

ive been lookin at shocks for my 95 ram 4WD 1500. i got the stock blocks with the leafs out back, so when im lookin for shocks, do i just go with a stock height shock, or one set up already for the added height of that block? i.e. (if its a 4"block, do i need shocks for a 4" lift.

yea i no to match the height of lift to the shock, but did all 95 1500's 4WD (non-sport) come with like 3-4" block with the leaf springs? so then would that be representative of a stock height truck, or a truck with 3-4" lift?
