Default make some serious power

what do you guys recomend on doing to my 318 do make some more power? i already have a streight piped exhaust (stock tube size i think, 2.75?) and a drop in K&N. it has the 4.10 gears from the factory and 275x70R17's. its the off road sport and it seems like its always running between 1500 and 2000 rpms just to slightly accelerate. is it possible to change the shift points so its running at 1200 or so? if not, what will boost up the power? plugs, wires, cat, tune, gears......?

through a turbo on it and loose the 4.10 gears, more power and higher top speed, new air intake and larger exaust, new carb or new injectors, buy a programmer or a chip and then dyno it

Check out the modifications in my signature. All of them combined has made this truck feel ALIVE! There are more involved ways of doing increasing performance as you'll be able to find through a search on this site. But, if you want to keep it simple and easy to do with limited tools and time, the route I took has made major improvements and has been very well worth it.

EDIT: I need to update this info! I also replaced the stock timing chain with a CRANE double roller, set at 4* ret., and the T-stat is actually 180*.

i think you got the wrong transmission, you wanted to select the NV4500 stick shift

max power is either going to come from Heads/Cam/Intake manifold or a Blower.

4.10 gears are pretty good gears.depending on your tire size. programmers are about your best bang for the buck. hypertech is ok,superchip is a little better, and the sct is a custum tune which is your best.

serious power is forced injection,or cam swap.

Check out my sig for things i've done to my 318. Best bang for the buck have been the Fastman TB, 1.7 HS rockers, B&G PCM, and modding the intake. Headers, highflow cat, and exhaust were ok, but mostly only opened up the top end.
