Don't waste your money on any track bar unless it's aftermarket or Lukes link. I replaced mine with the "1 year warrantied napa" crapper and it was shot in a couple months. Got a new one and the boot tore in one month. It's still in decent shape but it is totally stupid to replace one every year. As soon as this one has play, I'm going with Thuren.

What good is a warranty if the part is crap to begin with?

So true. Seems like any long term option is 4x's the price, and I am hoping to not have this truck long term.

You in canada? Cause I don't see those kind of price differences.

Napa cheapo $140
LUkes link $70
Thuren bar $299
Dealership $400

I almost went with the dealer part which is way better than the Napa. The stock bar lasted about 80k miles and the napa one less than 6 months. It's just not worth it. Get the Thuren or don't keep the truck past 6 months.

So replacing the steering box with a decent after marked part solved the no-center problem? I'm considering buying a ram that doesn't center after turning and I just want to know what I'm getting myself into before I buy. Thanks

Meant to get away from the old design of the trac-bar that uses a ball joint. There is a bracket that you install and use the trac-bar from a 2003. This eliminates the ball joint.

the bracket is $180 (w/shipping), and a new trac-bar part #52106795AC is about $200-250, so its about $400-$450. okay so its not exactly 4x's, but more like 3.2x's.

The trac bar is not going to cause it to not center.

You need to make sure the ball joints , tie rods are good first. And a bad PS pump can also cause it to not center.

Nobody said it would. You fixed your problem with a new box and we were discussing trackbars because we wanted to hijack your thread! Haha, sorry man.

Speaking of boxes, mine isn't re-centering anymore and the steering pump has been squealing for two years. I wonder which I should try first--probably the pump since it's cheaper?

What is a post without at least one or two hijacks?

Mine doesn't center, never has. I never really expect it to center like a front wheel drive, but it does center some from a full turn to lock.

I just want my truck to stop better!! (another feeble attempts to hijack).

Well I bought my truck when it was barely 2 years old and only 40k miles on it. It drove like a car!!! I know, some people don't believe a dodge can actually steer, but mine was beautifully tight and accurate. Could never figure out why people complained about bad steering. Now I get it. Been trying to fix mine for about two years now. Just so you all know, these trucks USED to steer like sports cars, at least mine did. So let's keep this thread going so we can all enjoy true steering bliss!
