Talking Money to burn

Wife gave me a 500 limit to do whatever to my truck. Whats the best bang for the buck? Just a daily driver and wanting more get up and go! Current mods, MSD 6A ign, K&N FIPK, 3" cat back. I have to replace the plenum and have a hughes kit on order. I have read several threads saying the fastman throttle body is good, also thinking headers or a chip but now sure which will give the most for go for the money. Any suggestions would be great!

Between headers, chip, and Fastman TB, I would vote for the Fastman TB first.

My next choice would be a performance chip or programmer. If you're not going to do any other modifications in the future, then I believe a B&G flash will probably be the most popular suggestion. If you plan to further modify your truck for performance, then I suggest the SCT Tuner instead. It has made my truck come ALIVE after all of the other things I've changed on it, but is a little more costly than the other options out there.

Headers may help a little for performance, but without re-tuning the PCM for them, the gains will probably not be that great; noticeable, but not great. I'm not knocking getting headers by any means, but without doing more, I think the headers may give less "bang for the buck" than the Fastman TB and a B&G flash.

If I hadn't done so much to my truck and wasn't going to do more in the future, I would've chosen a B&G flash over the Hypertech and Superchip options. This is based on everything I've read. I personally have NO EXPERIENCE with any of these three, but from what I've read, B&G is the one to go with for a "simple tune".

Congrats on the spending cash. It makes you feel like a kid at Christmas again, doesn't it?!

I'd say Harland Sharp 1.7 rockers, or an SCT/B&G tuner. Fastman would be 3rd on my list.

yeah R.R are good gains for the magnum motors, thats actually what is next on my mod list. maybe a cat would help you out some too, maybe a good tune up too, i put it ngk iridiums, alot better with the msd i have, other than the autolite i had in.

just a thought if your going that far into the motor with new plenum, new samll cam in wouldn't be much more,,,, pull liter and rods, then pump and timing chain..ect, just a though.

a small cams (little more aggressive than stock) you will not have to change much or nothing.
larger cams, (alot more aggressive than stock) then a you have to adjust computer, rocker(or new one), and so on...

just a thougth... go luck and have fun with the 500 bucks

Since your already going to have the intake manafold off I would suggest getting a mild cam and a set of lifters. If I had it to do over again I would have paid more attention to the internals rather than the bolt ons. Then you can ask for an SCT Tuner for christmas!
