Question Glasspacks??? Muffler

How do you think a 3" dia. x 18" glasspack will sound on an 01 ram 1500 5.9l? Will it affect my mpg. and backpressure so to say??? right now i have a flowmaster 40 series american thunder. How will it sound compared to that?

i cant compare them as glass packs suck to me if your wanting more and aggressive sound go with the super 40 series flowmaster , and if you want 3" make sure you put 3" tail pipes on as well because if you go 2.5" in and 2.5" out with 3" muffler your not gaining anything

A glass pack may be louder, but a flowmaster sounds a lot better. Try out a single chambered muffler if your aching for a louder sound. Flowmaster 10 series and cherry bomb extremes are some of the more popular single chambered mufflers.

I have to disagree. I have a glasspack on my 96 5.2, and I think it sounds great. The 5.2/5.9 were designed back in the old days, so they sound better with an old school setup.

Just a matter of preferance really. I think overall though, the majority of people enjoy the sound of flowmaster. My brothers runs a true dual with cherry bomb extremes, and that sounds pretty damn nice too. One of the louder trucks I know that's for sure. I still think my tone just sounds infantly better though.
