Default new here need help

hey guys i just want to say this site is awesome and im glad to join.

the problem is my truck was driving fine i went to go to work and it turns over revs up then as the rpms come down to idel speed it just keeps going and dies. i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. the battery is good and so is alternator. i checked the fuel pressure and with motor running the lowest reading was 25 the highest was 30. is this the right pressure for a 97 ram 3.9 v6?
any help would be great
thanks

welcome.

probably a bad IAC. its a common problem. on back on TB. seach for about a million post on this. about $50. get Mopar or SMP brand only and avoid autozone and advance, i've gotten a bunch of bad one's from there.

thanks i went out to start it today started and ran fine for about ten minutes then as i reved it up it went down to idel speed it died again ill try the iac im wondering if mabey its the fuel pump or the camshaft position sensor is 25-30 psi the right pressure for the fuel lines? the book says 35-40 im wondering if its just dying slowly. since the iac is the cheapest ill try that first

Probably just condensation in the exhaust since you have been taking it on short runs only to test it out. Oh and also, the pcm needs to reset itself for the new IAC.

Default I had that problem...

I was having the same problem, only it would cause misfires, this one was a tough one to figure out, i just got ambitious and started ripping apart the throttle body because I had a feeling it had something to do with air/fuel, and I was right. My whole throttle body was almost completely clogged with a hardened sluge.... from old burnt oil? anyways what ever it was, I took the TPS, IAC and what ever else was connected to it, sat the whole thing in Carb Dunk over night, then attacked it with a toothbrush in the morning, then reassembled, and after a few runs, she was back to normal. So it really didn't cost me anything besides a new throttle body gasket, I had the carb dunk. I'm not sure if that's a Dodge problem or not, the truck was very badly neglected, no oil change in the last 45,000km from the previous owner, he was an old drunk who just drove it and did no maintenance on it, up untill he lost his licence for an impaired. Got it for a great deal but, man..... the sludge problem's with this thing, to this day because lack of oil changes has been a big problem. Other then that, love the truck, Dodge has a customer for life!

I've also seen clogged fuel filters cause alot of the same symptoms with idle issues and not staying started.
